Greater Green Bay Chamber Honors Five HSSD Teachers of Distinction


The Greater Green Bay Chamber announced the 2018 Golden Apple Teachers of Distinction today. Congratulations to HSSD’s Kristina Crabb (Meadowbrook Elementary), Erica Kentop (Forest Glen Elementary), Jackie Kordasiewicz (Bay Harbor Elementary), April White (Suamico Elementary), and Eve Wozniak (Lineville Intermediate). HSSD Schools Meet or Exceed State Expectations


The Howard-Suamico School District and all eight of its schools meet or exceed expectations as defined in the new Accountability Report Cards released to the public today by the Wisconsin Department of Instruction.

“While we are pleased to see our schools meeting this measure as defined by the state, we know there are multiple ways to demonstrate and celebrate the success stories of our students,” said Superintendent Damian LaCroix. “Ultimately today’s Accountability Report Cards are one data point among many that measure and affirm the achievements of our students in HSSD.”

Update: Village of Suamico Boil Water Advisory Lifted

512water-faucetThe Village of Suamico has notified us that the water testing is complete and the boil water advisory has been lifted as of 12:30 p.m. today, Saturday, February 6.

Thank you to our principals, teachers, and staff at Suamico and Bay Harbor for minimizing the disruption to learning. School operations will commence as normal beginning on Monday, February 8, 2016.

Bay Harbor Elementary Student Wins National Writing Contest

BH writer legacy projectMadi Ashmead, a second-grade student at Bay Harbor Elementary, was named the national winner of the Legacy Project’s “Listen to a Life Story” writing contest. Madi and her classmates entered the contest with support from the Howard-Suamico School District Gifted and Talented program.

Madi’s topic was her grandparents and their group home. The award was presented at recent all-school assembly and Madi’s grandparents, Tom and Mary Beth Kemen (shown here with Madi), were on hand for the ceremony. Click here to read the winning entry.

Included with grand prize award were a new Lenovo all-in-one laptop computer, a keepsake timepiece representing the theme of the contest, and a framed certificate of achievement. Congratulations Madi!
