HSEF Sporting Clay Event June 13, 2017 – Registration Now Open

Registration is now open for the second annual Howard-Suamico Education Foundation Sporting Clay Event, June 13, 2017 at Little Creek Lodge in Abrams, Wisconsin. The fundraiser will support the HSEF’s annual Back to School drive with school supplies provided for district families in need.

The event begins at 4 p.m. and includes a cookout either before or after each squad’s assigned time. Cost is $40 per person or $200 for a team of five. Field and station sponsorships are also available.

Bay Port’s Thomas Monfre Named National Merit Scholarship Finalist

Bay Port High School Senior Thomas Monfre has been named a finalist for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Monfre is among a group of 15,000 students nationwide to earn the designation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. He becomes the 37th student in school history to earn the honor.

Thomas will attend Dartmouth College where he will pursue studies in Computer Science and Digital Arts. As part of a stellar academic record at Bay Port, Thomas was a participant in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program where he is eligible for certificates in English, German, and History. Outside of the classroom, he was a two-time nationals qualifier for DECA and served as a drum major for the Bay Port Band. He was a leader on the stage crew for the Bay Port Performing Arts Center as senior lighting technician and also participated in FBLA, National Honor Society, YSL, and German Club.

Thomas will be honored for his National Merit Scholarship finalist designation at the Monday, May 8 Board of Education meeting. He is the son of Bill and Karen Monfre of Howard.

 

Tickets on Sale Now for 2nd Annual Sweet Safari for Education at the NEW Zoo – May 12th, 5-8 p.m.

The NEW Zoo & Adventure Park, in partnership with the Howard-Suamico Education Foundation, is pleased to announce the second-annual hosting of a fundraising event: The Sweet Safari for Education, A Wild Artistic Adventure.  This event will be held on Friday, May 12th, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Sweet Safari will feature free samples of tasty treats from a variety of local vendors and restaurants.  While guests make their way through the zoo to enjoy these delicious samples, they can also participate in several other fun activities, including children’s games, live animal encounters, free carousel rides, and more. A special art show, featuring over 100 pieces of artwork from Howard-Suamico School District students, will be on display in the Mayan Restaurant.  These works of art will feature endangered species, including species found at the NEW Zoo!

Advance tickets are available at several local Festival Foods locations: De Pere, Green Bay East, Green Bay West, Green Bay North, and Suamico; at the Howard-Suamico School District Office; and at the NEW Zoo’s Visitor Center building starting Monday, May 1st.  Tickets for the event are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Children under 2 will be free.

All proceeds raised during the event will benefit education programs, both at the NEW Zoo and throughout the Howard-Suamico School District.
