UPDATE (9:58 p.m.)
While there was no damage outside of the laundry room, some smoke did disperse throughout the building. Out of an abundance of caution and in order to allow time for a professional restoration company to work over the long weekend, students, teachers, and staff will not report to school tomorrow, Thursday, February 13, 2020.
The building will reopen Monday, February 17, 2020 and we look forward to seeing you back at Lineville then. We will continue to provide updates over the weekend as necessary.
Lineville Intermediate School Fire Alarm (8:35 p.m.)
At 7:25 p.m. this evening we were made aware of a fire alarm at Lineville Intermediate School. Shortly thereafter, the Howard Fire Department was on scene to determine there was a fire contained to a dryer unit in a first floor service room in the northwest corner of the building. The fire department reported the situation was under control within 40 minutes.
Building services staff are safe and there are no injuries.
Relative to student attendance on Thursday, February 13, we are assessing the situation and will send follow up communication directly to Lineville families and staff this evening and we will post updates on the district Facebook page when we have more information to share.
