Senior Eric Hess was named the 2016 recipient of the Brian LaViolette Scholarship in a surprise ceremony today at Bay Port High School. The $10,000 award is presented annually to an area student who has shown exemplary achievement throughout his or her high school career.
Hess will attend the University of Minnesota this fall, where he plans to study biomedical engineering. He becomes the second Bay Port graduate to earn the prestigious honor, joining Brittany Van Remortel (Class of 2007).
