National Champs! Bay Port Duo Shines at National DECA Event

DECA ICDC 2016Bay Port High School seniors Katie Brown and Ethan Farr earned a first-place finish in the “Learn and Earn” category at the recent DECA national competition in Nashville, Tennessee. In the event participants apply entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to a single sales/service activity that is run as a real business venture. It is the first-ever first place finish for Bay Port competitors at the event.

The duo competed against over 180 top teams from all 50 states and seven other countries. Brown and Farr were part of a Bay Port team of 17 participants that competed in Nashville for team advisors Lindsay Matuszewski, Stephanie Reinerio, and Ross Toellner.

“Katie and Ethan achieved and amazing accomplishment at the ICDC (International Career Development Conference) event,” said Matuszewski. “The entire team had an incredible learning experience. We are especially grateful for the community partnership with Nicolet Bank which supports opportunities like this for our students.”
