On Monday, April 25, 2016, the Howard-Suamico School District Board of Education approved the hiring of Mark Smith as Assistant Superintendent of Organizational Development. Smith will assume his new role July 1, 2016.
Mr. Smith has served as Assistant Superintendent of Continuous Improvement for the Green Bay Area Public Schools for the last three years. He was a building-level administrator at Green Bay Preble High School and Green Bay Edison Middle School for six years prior to joining the district office staff.
“Mark’s character, leadership experiences, and perspective make him an ideal fit for our strategic shift toward an Organizational Development philosophy,” said Superintendent Damian LaCroix. “His emphasis on positive impact through teaching and learning is a hallmark of his leadership. As a Suamico resident and parent of two HSSD students, he is invested in the success of our schools and community.”
“I am very excited to join the Howard-Suamico School District,” said Smith. “I plan to learn, grow, and contribute to the tradition of excellence that has been established. I am thankful to Mr. LaCroix and the Board of Education for the opportunity to serve as the District’s first Assistant Superintendent of Organizational Development.”
Smith will fill the vacancy following the June retirement of James Freeman who served as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for 13 years.
