Suamico, Wis. – The Howard-Suamico School District received three Spectrum Awards from the Wisconsin School Public Relations Association (WSPRA) at the group’s fall conference November 5. The District also won the organization’s Lighthouse Award, the top honor among all school public relations and communications campaigns in the state during the past year. The new HSSD website design and naming rights sponsorship proposals were recognized with Spectrum Awards of Excellence. The Upward Together Education Campaign won the top prize Lighthouse Award for its positive media relations, event planning, and publicity outcomes.
Spectrum Awards recognize high-quality public relations efforts produced by or on behalf of Wisconsin school districts. This year, this statewide competition honored 25 school districts with awards.
“Spectrum Award winners exemplify the very best communications work in school districts across the state,” said WSPRA President Kevin Hickman. “The winners demonstrate the value of engaging stakeholders in order to build community support for Wisconsin’s public schools.”
WSPRA’s Spectrum Awards are judged by members of the Illinois School Public Relations Association (INSPRA) on a four-point scale in four areas: goals and objectives, research and planning, execution and evaluation and results.
“Sharing good news about our students, staff, and schools affirms the investment that our community continues to make in its school system,” said Superintendent Damian LaCroix. “It is gratifying to have our communications team recognized for its excellent work.”
